Thuja Occidentalis Smaragd has an upright conical habit and aromatic foliage with a beautiful, emerald hue (smaragd meaning emerald in German).
Thuja conifers are becoming increasingly acknowledged as excellent hedging conifers. They are evergreen, fast-growing, naturally conical shaped trees with small, fragrant leaves ideal for the climate in Britain and Ireland. Smaragd trees have a dense growing habit and are very well suited to trimming. Its narrow stature means that unlike most other hedging plants, it needs relatively little pruning, even over many years. This is because Thuja Smaragd grows slowly width-wise but in height has a normal growth rate. Perfect characteristics for hedging.
